Fire brigade praise 'quick-thinking' Wetherspoons workers after blaze breaks out

The Cork City Fire Brigade were forced to rush to a Wetherspoons in the city centre after a massive blaze broke out inside.

The fire, which started in the kitchen, was quickly put out thankfully and there's no reports of any serious injuries, according to Cork Beo.

A number of crews from both the Anglesea St station and Ballyvolane station responded to the reports of a fire on Sunday afternoon.

After extinguishing the danger of the blaze, they praised the quick-thinking from some of the Wetherspoons workers who had prevented it from escalating.

The popular Paul St pub remained open for outdoor service on Sunday evening.

The Cork City Fire Brigade tweeted a picture showing the damage done in the kitchen.

They wrote: "Crews from Anglesea Street and Ballyvolane have now made the scene safe at a kitchen fire in a city centre premises.

"Thanks to quick thinking from staff the incident wasn’t allowed to escalate into a major fire."
