Fire breaks out near shopping centre as police launch investigation

Police have launched an investigation after a fire broke out near a shopping centre last night.

Fire crews were called to a derelict building off Southway in the centre of Skelmersdale, at around 6.10pm on Sunday, June 14.

Two fire engines rushed to the scene, close to the Concourse Shopping Centre, Lancs Live reports.

Here, firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire.

As a result, Lancashire Police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service launched a joint investigation into the incident to bring those behind it to justice.

It is not known if there were any casualties.
