Fire breaks out inside 'abandoned house' at Lake Macquarie

Firefighters have rushed to an "abandoned house" at Lake Macquarie on Wednesday morning after a fire erupted inside.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews, backed by a NSW Rural Fire Service team, responded to a triple zero call for help on Awaba Road at Toronto just before 6.30am on July 22.

Upon arrival, firefighters found what they believed to be an abandoned single-storey house, with no people inside, on fire.

The power was cut and crews managed to contain the flames to one room inside. The blaze was extinguished.

The building was ventilated and secured before firefighters were able to leave the scene by about 8am.

No one was reported injured in the ordeal.
