Fire breaks out in outbuilding and spread to three homes

Fire crews tackled a blaze which spread to three homes in Southmead last night (Monday, June 15).

Firefighters from Patchway, Temple, Chew and Avonmouth fire stations all attended after the fire broke out in Homeleaze Road at around 8pm.

Pictures shared on Twitter by Temple fire station show crews at the scene and extensive damage to an outbuilding where the fire started.

It then spread to three properties through a roof.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue has said the cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.

They said: "Crews from Patchway, Temple, Chew and Avonmouth fire stations were mobilised to reports of a fire.

"On arrival, firefighters found an out building fire had spread to three properties through the roof void.

"Crews used eight breathing apparatus for safety, and four high pressure hose reels and two 45mm jets to extinguish the fire.

"They also used a turntable ladder to assist with ventilation and four thermal imaging cameras to check for hotspots.

"The cause is thought to be accidental and crews remained on scene to provide fire safety advice to neighbouring properties."

Temple fire station added: "Busy night for us, several house fires across the service. Here's are rescue pump and turntable ladder assisting @AFRSPatchway on a 4 pump property fire."
