A fire has broken out in the basement kitchen of a popular city centre restaurant.
The fire service was called to Yang Sing on Princess Street shortly before 11am this morning, after receiving a number of calls from the public about visible smoke.
Six fire engines attended and firefighters are still at the scene.
The blaze is in the kitchen's duct system, and is being tackled using an aerial appliance, with photos from the scene showing water being pumped into the building from above.
North West Ambulance Service is in attendance and have been approached for comment, but it has not yet been confirmed if anyone has been seriously injured.

The scene is close to a large corden, where police are continuing to investigate following a firearms discharge and road traffic collision on Saturday night, but the incidents are not connected.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 10.54 this morning we received a number of calls from members of the public about smoke visible above a high rise building on Princess Street, Manchester.
"We deployed six fire engines and an Incident Command Unit to the scene and have extinguished a fire in the basement kitchen ducting system in a restaurant.
"We used Breathing Apparatus to search all floors of the building and are using an Aerial Appliance as an observation point above the roof and to direct a water jet into ventilation outlets".
In a subsequent statement, the fire service has confirmed that the incident is now winding down.
The statement reads: "As of 2pm a full survey of the ducting system has been carried out and no further sign of fire found.
"Cadet Gas and Electricity North West are on the scene to assist firefighters in making the building's gas and electricity supplies safe.
"The incident is scaling down."
