A fire broke out from a room on the 5th floor of a condominium in the heart of Khon Kaen city yesterday, but there were no reports of injuries. A pregnant woman, who suffered from smoke inhalation, is out of danger.
Kaen Nakhon 191 radio centre quoted Pol Lt Col Punnarit Tarananthaseth, a Muang police investigator, as saying the fire broke out at 9am in a room in Chic Condo on Kasikorn Thung Sang road near the Muang district office, opposite the Radio Thailand station in Khon Kaen Municipality.
Fire engines were sent to the condominium as residents of the building were evacuated. The blaze was brought under control in about 20 minutes.
Kalaya Saengchan, 24, a female staff member of the condo, said the fire started in a room on the 5th floor.
Pol Lt Col Punnarit said it is believed the fire started from a kitchen electrical appliance that had been left plugged in.
