Fire breaks out at England v Andorra stadium live on Sky Sports

England's World Cup qualifier in Andorra has been cast into doubt after the hosting stadium caught fire.

The television gantry at the side of the 3,300-capacity Estadi Nacional was engulfed in flames on Friday afternoon, three hours after England had trained there.

The blaze, which broke out live on Sky Sports, is reported to have started when sparks from welders constructing the gantry led to the whole temporary structure catching fire, with dark smoke billowing into the air.

The fire also spread to the two dugouts, the artificial turf at the edge of the pitch and slightly onto the playing surface.

Sprinklers were used to try and get the blaze under control.

Gareth Southgate's men are due to play the minnows at 7.45pm BST on Saturday.

The fire brigade later arrived and put the fire out, though the extent of the damage caused is yet to be established.

Officials will have to assess the damage and risk to players and fans before giving the match the go-ahead.
