Fire breaks out at Cranhill primary school as firefighters race to scene

A fire has broken out at a primary school in Glasgow's east end.

Fire crews were sent to the blaze at Saint Maria Goretti Primary School in Skerryvore Road, Cranhill after receiving a call at around 4:45pm.

A picture sent to Glasgow Live shows flames which appear to have taken hold through the window on the upper floor.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said firefighters are currently in attendance after four appliances were mobilised.

Police Scotland were also called to the scene and said "enquiries are being made into the circumstances."

The school was also targeted by vandals last week in a late-night break-in on Tuesday January 12, which police are currently investigating.
