Fire breaks out at a solicitor firm before spreading to flat in north Manchester

A fire broke out in a solicitors firm and spread to the flat above in Moston.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze on Moston Lane at 3.20am on Monday morning.

The fire started in the ground floor of the office belonging to KHF Solicitors.

It then spread to the first floor flat above.

Nobody was in either properties at the time and there are no reports of any injuries.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze and left the scene at around 6.30am.

Images shared from the scene show the exterior of the building blackened by the flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is thought to have been caused by overloaded electrical equipment.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 3.20am this morning to Moston Lane in Manchester.

"Four fire engines have attended a fire involving the ground of a commercial property.

"The fire spread to the first floor of an unoccupied flat.

"We used six breathing apparatus and three hose reels to extinguish the fire, and left the scene at 6.30am this morning.

"It looks like it could have been caused by the overloading of electrical equipment."
