A disposable BBQ left burning at a Merseyside beauty spot caused a fire to break out during lockdown.
Firefighters were called to Formby Pinewoods on Thursday, April 23, by a member of the public who spotted the blaze and quickly alerted the emergency services.
The fire was "deep seated" in an area of the woodland when the fire crews arrived.
They used beaters to extinguish the flames.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue said the fire could have "escalated into a serious one", if it wasn't for the quick thinking passerby who called them.
They also reminded the public that barbecues are not allowed at Formby Pinewoods and described leaving a barbecue burning as irresponsible.
The incident comes just days after a fire scorched through 400 square metres of grass and gorse on Ainsdale beach on Monday.
Firefighters battled flames and strong coastal winds for six hours to overcome the blaze which left a trial of destruction.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service was called to a section of Ainsdale beach, between the Coastal Road and shore front, at 6.34pm on Monday.
Crews arrived to find a large area of the sand dunes on fire. They used beaters, shovels and hoses to tackle the flames.
