Fire at Scots high rise flats as rubbish chute deliberately set alight

Police have launched a probe after a rubbish chute in a block high rise flats was set on fire in Clydebank.

The incident occurred in Park Court, Littleholm Place in the Dalmuir area around 6.30pm on Friday, April 30.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Services were called to the scene and officers say there were no injuries from the incident.

Detective Constable Iain Allison, of Clydebank CID, said: “No one was injured but this fire could have had horrific consequences in such a high storey block. Fortunately the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished it quickly.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and we are carrying out a joint investigation with the SFRS. Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to get in touch.

“If you can help with our enquiries please call us on 101, quoting incident 2935 of Friday, 30 April, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
