A fire which swept through a car garage in Midlothian in the early hours of yesterday is being treated as suspicious.
Three cars were set alight at DLG Auto Services, Sherwood Industrial Estate, Bonnyrigg at around 2am on Thursday morning.
Cops have now launched a probe into the circumstances of the blaze and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area to come forward.
Video footage showed flames engulfing the forecourt of the vehicle repair centre, with onlookers claiming they saw a 4x4 car going up in smoke before firefighters arrived.
One man, who was watching on as firefighters tackled the blaze, can be heard saying there was cars on fire 'right, left and centre'
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Midlothian are investigating following a suspicious fire in Bonnyrigg.
"Officers and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to a premises in Sherwood Industrial Estate at around 2am on Thursday 5th September following a report of vehicles alight.
The fire was extinguished and nobody was injured as a result.
"Inquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area, or has information to help the investigation, should contact Dalkeith CID on 101 and quote incident number 0216 of 5th September.
"An anonymous report can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 2.04am on Thursday, September 5 to reports of vehicles on fire in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire engines to the town’s Sherwood Industrial Estate, where firefighters were met by a fire impacting three cars.
“Crews extinguished the fire and made the area safe before leaving the scene.
“There were no casualties.”
