Fire at Knightswood high rise flats - man sadly dies in hospital

A man has died following a blaze in a Knightswood block of flats yesterday (Tuesday).

As reported on Glasgow Live , four Scottish Fire and Rescue Service engines and an aerial appliance were called to the scene in Kirkton Avenue in the north west of the city around 5.45am.

A 37-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after the fire .

Police Scotland has now confirmed he sadly died a short time later.

A spokesperson said: "A 37-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he later died.

"The fire is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

A fire service spokesman added: “We were called to reports of a fire at multi-storey flats in Kirkton Avenue  at around 5.45am.

"We mobilised four appliances and one aerial appliance."
