Fire at Chon Buri factory

A fire caused extensive damage at a tube and condenser manufacturing factory in an industrial estate in Phan Thong, Chon Buri early on Monday morning.

At least 10 fire trucks were called in to fight the blaze, which was reported at about 1am at a factory owned by SeAH Precision Metal (Thailand) Co Ltd in Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, Thai media reported.

It took fire fighters about an hour to bring the flames under control. Investigators had yet to determine the cause or assess the damage done to the business.

Thanik Sichan, 49, an employee at the factory's warehouse, said he heard a loud explosion before the fire broke out and quickly sounded the alarm.

He heard more explosions as the fire spread.

The blaze started at a pond for leakage testing and spread to copper wire products, police said. There were no reports of injury.
