Fire at block of flats after kitchen bursts into flames

Firefighters were seen rushing into a block of flats during the early hours of this morning after a kitchen burst into flames.

Two fire engines and ambulance crews attended the scene on Muirhead Avenue in West Derby shortly after 3am this morning, after a pan of food set fire in one of the properties.

Photos show emergency services parked up outside the block of flats on the road.

Meanwhile firefighters can also be seen entering the building to put out the blaze.

A pan of food which started the fire was found completely destroyed by fire crews, while the kitchen and hallway of the property was damaged by smoke.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 3am this morning, 30 October (LGM999s)

A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: "We were alerted to reports of a fire at 3:09am and we were on the scene by 3:13am.

"Two occupants of a flat had precautionary checks for smoke inhalation by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment."
