Fire near Bella Vita restaurant - crews rush to tackle huge early morning blaze

Fire crews rushed to tackle a huge building blaze during the early hours of the morning.

Around five Scottish Fire and Rescue fire engines were called to an out-building near the Bella Vita restaurant on Mosspark Boulevard, in the Cardonald area of the city, at 3.42am on Wednesday morning.

Video from the scene shows the building near Paisley Road West completely engulfed in flames at around 4am.

It is unclear how the fire started or if there were any injuries in the incident.

One crew remains at the scene more than three hours since the fire was first reported.

The fire was officially thought to have happened inside Bella Vita, however management confirmed to Glasgow Live that it was an out-building close to the restaurant.

A manager said: "It was an external building to the side of the restaurant however we may have to close today due to smoke but everyone is safe and the restaurant is fine. Will be back open tomorrow as usual for business."

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “At 3.42am we received reports of a building fire on Mosspark Boulevard at 3.42am on Wednesday, November 6.

“Five appliances were sent to the incident - one of which remains in the area and could be there for a while.”
