Firaxis is giving Civilization 6’s Julius Caesar DLC away for free

If you ever wondered how much a Roman emperor is worth, the answer is nothing, or it will be when Firaxis starts giving away Civilization 6’s Julius Caesar for free in the history game from Nov. 21, 2022, through Nov. 24, 2022. Firaxis made the announcement on the game’s official website, but there is a slight catch. You need to create and link your 2K account to the game, and the free Caesar DLC is only available on PC, iOS, and Mac.

You can link your account from the Civ 6 start screen via the 2K button at the bottom.

Once you link your 2K account, all you need to do to get the new leader is log into the game during the offer period, and Firaxis will deliver Julius automatically. Then:

  • Navigate to the “Additional Content” section from the main menu
  • Choose “Mods”
  • Find Julius Caesar
  • Choose “Enable”

Caesar likes conquering territories, and one of his special abilities earns him extra gold when he conquers a city for the first time and slightly less when he clears a barbarian camp. As for his other abilities, Firaxis is keeping quiet about them for now.

Caesar kicks off the Civilization 6 paid DLC Leader Pass’ first round of new leaders, the Great Negotiators, bringing a gaggle of great rulers from past Civ games into Civ 6, including Abraham Lincoln and Queen Mbande Nzinga. Unlike the free Caesar DLC, the Leader Pass leaders will remain on your account permanently and are available on all platforms.
