PRAYAGRAJ: Authorities of Allahabad University have lodged an FIR under section 147, 188 and 120 B of IPC and section 7 of CLA Act against eight AU students and others for disturbing peace inside varsity campus. The FIR was lodged on March 26.
Deputy SP (Colonelganj) Ajeet Singh Chauhan told TOI that Prof Harsh Kumar, chief proctor of the Allahabad University (AU) has registered the FIR under different IPC section against students claiming that a group of students were protesting on varsity campus since February 14 and demanded that annual exam should be conducted through online mode.
Meanwhile, during the protest, a group of students identified as Amit Kumar Pandey, Ajay Singh alias Samrat, Ashutosh Patel alias Rahul Patel, Satyam Kushwaha, ShivbaliYadav, Hariom Yadav, Mohd Saif , Pawan Sharma and another unidentified had not only disturbed the study atmosphere but also staged a sit in on the office premises of vice chancellor.
Chief proctor alleged that these student leaders were also provoking other students to create noisy atmosphere inside varsity premises.
On March 25, a group of students instigated other students including Hariom Yadav, Mohd Saif , Pawan Sharma and three others who then made a futile attempt to self-immolate after sprinkling inflammable substance on themselves on university campus.However, alert policemen and university security officials foiled their attempt,but this incident created terror like atmosphere inside university campus.
