Fiorentina make Dusan Vlahovic transfer stance clear as Arsenal bid £17m for midfielder

Arsenal have got the ball rolling in the January transfer window by approving Ainsley Maitland-Niles' move to Roma on loan and there are plenty of other deals in the works.

The Gunners have a number of players within the squad who could be moved on elsewhere, while there's also a need for additions in return.

Attack is one particular area of focus, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah all poised to leave, and there's one man on the agenda.

Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic is the name on everybody's lips and Arsenal are pushing to get a deal, while they'll be encouraged by the Italian side's stance.

According to reports cited by the Express, the Serie A side are keen to sell this month, with 18 months remaining on the player's deal, and are insistent they don't want to deal with Juventus.

That opens the door for Arsenal to get a deal over the line but persuading Vlahovic to accept the move is the more difficult prospect.

Elsewhere, Brazilian outlet R7 state Arsenal have moved to sign Palmieras midfielder Danilo as they seek midfield recruits with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny on African Cup of Nations duty.

The report says Arsenal's offer for the 20-year-old consists of a €20m (£17m) fee and an additional €5m (£4m) in bonuses, which are not detailed.

Finally, the race for the services of defensive outcast Pablo Mari are heating up as Il Secolo XIX have named Sampdoria as the latest club to express an interest.

Previous reports have touted the Brazilian for a return to former club Flamengo and as Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier replacement.
