Finnish air hostess found dead in Phuket hotel

A Thomas Cook Airlines stewardess was found dead inside a hotel room in Thalang district on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old air hostess is a Finnish national, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives. She was found dead by a cleaner at a hotel in tambon Sakhu, said Pol Lt Col Jullaat Suwannin, a deputy investigation chief at Sakhu. The discovery was reported at around 11am.

When police arrived her body was on the bed, partly covered with a bed sheet. She was partially clothed and there were no traces of a struggle inside the room, Thai media reported.

A hotel housekeeper told police that she went to clean the room as usual. Upon entering it she saw the woman lying unconscious in front of the bathroom door. She initially thought the woman had fainted and called other staff who helped place her on the bed.

Only afterwards did they realise she was dead. She immediately alerted police.

Police have not established the cause of death. Hotel staff were called in for questioning. The body was sent to Thalang Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
