Finnieston set for new Turkish and Persian restaurant

Finnieston is set for a new Turkish restaurant with proposals for Meze Meze to open up on Argyle Street.

Plans submitted to Glasgow City Council would see the new eatery replace the former 'The Kitchen' cafe at 1032 Argyle Street. The Kitchen closed down in September of last year.

The proposed dining venue is described as 'a very high class and quality establishment', with the planning application including for a change of use from cafe to restaurant, as well as the formation of a mezzanine level and frontage alterations.

Meanwhile, owners say Meze Meze will serve up: "authentic Turkish and Persian Ocakbasi in Glasgow's West End", while a short blurb on the restaurant's website, adds: "Feasting our eyes is the first pleasure of a good meal. Here at Meze Meze, food is an important part of our culture. Our recipes are treated like family heirlooms, all of them emphasising the technique, patience and love required to create the perfect balance of flavours and textures.

"Each and every dish has a little piece of history, making our food something to savour and appreciate in our restaurant or at home.

"Join us and enjoy a luscious, contemporary take on our time-honored cuisine, where our talented chefs prepare both traditional Persian and Turkish dishes alongside modern reinterpretations using the finest freshest ingredients."

It is unclear when Meze Meze will open, however, a post on the restaurant's Instagram page suggests it will be 'coming soon'.

Planning documents are currently with Glasgow City Council for consideration.
