Finn Russell's Scotland rugby fallout continues as Racing 92 star 'likes' tweets defending him

The fallout from Finn Russell's Scotland departure has continued after the fly-half 'liked' tweets suggesting it wasn't his fault.

The former Glasgow Warriors star left Scotland's training camp ahead of the Six Nations and will definitely take no part in their opening game against Ireland.

The SRU say he was dropped after 'breaching team protocol' but other reports suggest he walked out of camp of his own accord.

He could also miss further matches and although Russell wasn't saying anything on the issue, he wasn't staying completely silent.

The 27-year-old was liking social media posts from Racing 92 team-mate Simon Zebo about the incident, as well as from a supporter who said he had a right to stand up for himelf.

Zebo initially posted a gif of the Shaggy song 'It Wasn't Me' which was liked by Russell.

The Irishman then tagged in bookmaker Paddy Power with a tweet saying "I've got a story for ye".

Russell also liked a post from a fan with the account @Bruce_1314 which said: "Nothing wrong with standing up for yourself".

An earlier Scotland statement said: “Stand-off Finn Russell will play no further part in preparations for Scotland’s Six Nations opener against Ireland, having been disciplinced for a breach of team protocol during the week’s camp in Edinburgh. He has returned to his club.”

Gregor Townsend's men start their campaign with a trip to Dublin on February 1.
