Finn Harps sign Austrian Alexander Kogler after casting net wide in striker search

Finn Harps have signed a striker from Austria’s second tier.

But Alexander Kogler won’t be available for tomorrow's game away to Cork City at Turner’s Cross.

The Austrian - signed from Grazer AK - is serving a suspension from before the winter break.

But Harps hope to unleash him on champions Dundalk next weekend.

Boss Ollie Horgan said: “Alex is a good player and more importantly a good lad which is what we’re all about.

“He’ll hopefully give us something extra at that end of the pitch and help us get where we want to be.”

A fortnight ago, Horgan said he was looking everywhere for a new striker.

“It’s extremely difficult to get them, for a whole load of reasons and not just financial ones. They’re two a penny,” he said at the time.

“Derry got sorted (with Tim Andre Nilsen) by going to Norway. We’ve gone left, right and centre.”
