Finn Harps out to secure promotion-relegation playoff against Waterford

Finn Harps will nail down a promotion-relegation playoff with a point at home to Waterford tonight.

Bottom side UCD are six points behind them with two games to go but are 17 goals worse off and automatic relegation looms.

Harps will instead take their chances in the two-legged playoff against either Drogheda or Cabinteely and chairman Sean Quinn said: “It’s been a tough battle.

“But we hope Harps supporters will come out to help us get over the line.  We want to give ourselves a chance to secure a place in the top flight for next season.”

Waterford arrive with four wins in their last five domestic games having bowed out of the Scottish Challenge Cup last week.

Blues boss Alan Reynolds said: “We have two games left and we want to win both. Away to Finn Harps is never easy, especially when they’re fighting for their lives.

“They’ve beaten us this season already and Ollie Horgan always has them well prepared.”
