Finn Harps ace Mark Timlin ruled out for entire season after tearing cruciate ligament

Mark Timlin has been ruled out of the entire League of Ireland season after tearing his cruciate ligament.

The ‘devastated’ Finn Harps ace revealed the news on social media tonight.

Timlin wrote: “Completely devastated that I'm going to miss the 2020 season after tearing my ACL.

“Surgery is over and done with this morning and my recovery has begun. I'm determined to do everything possible to get back on the pitch stronger than ever!.”

Timlin has been with Harps since 2017 having signed from Derry City. He also played for St Pat’s.

It comes after Finn Harps expressed surprise and disappointment at the failure of their Donegal Community Stadium project to received expected funding approvals from the Department of Sport last month.

The Department announced capital sports grants to the tune of €77.4m for 25 separate projects on Friday.

But, having already previously received €1m from the Government, Harps did not receive final funding approval to complete the main stand, pitch floodlights and ancillary facilities for the new Stranolar development, despite expectations that it was coming.
