Finnish governmental organization Business Finland and the Embassy of Finland announced Tuesday that they will build a pavilion as an official hospitality house for the Finnish Olympic and Paralympic team and tourists, among other entities, during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The building, named the Metsa Pavilion, will be opened from June 1, 2020, and remain open until the end of the year, they said at a press conference in the embassy in Minato Ward, Tokyo.

During the 2020 Games, the pavilion will be used for press conferences with Finnish athletes and other events open to the public.

It will also be a venue in which corporate partners who have invested in the project can promote their products and services after the Olympics.

According to the Metsa group, the main sponsor of the pavilion and Finnish group companies related to forestry and paper manufacturing, "metsa" means "forest" in Finnish. The two-story, 200-square-meter building will be built with Finnish wooden materials that can be disassembled and moved to a new location.

"I am optimistic that we will stand out with an urban and sustainable design, interesting partners and activities," said Finnish Economic Affairs Minister Mika Lintila.
