Iron Banner made its first appearance in Destiny 2 since the launch of The Edge of Fate, bringing the first Iron Banner weapon to the new tiered loot system: Finite Impactor.
Finite Impactor is a returning Solar 140 RPM hand cannon. As an Iron Banner weapon, it has some exclusive perks like Iron Reach and Iron Grip that come at a stat trade-off. Apart from that, there are a couple of decent perks to take inside of PvE or the Crucible, but it doesn’t feel like an ultimate winner anywhere.

What is the Finite Impactor god roll in Destiny 2?

Unfortunately, despite being a Solar weapon, Finite Impactor doesn’t have Incandescent. It still has Heal Clip in the third column for PvE to grant Cure when reloading after a kill, which you can pair with Burning Ambition. Burning Ambition applies additional scorch to already scorched enemies or can apply scorch itself, but it requires around 10 hits to work.
Despite being a weapon from a PvP mode, Finite Impactor is lacking in the perk department. Fragile Focus in the third column passively grants 20 range when shielded. The buff won’t be up all the time, but it bumps up the range for the beginning of the gunfight.
Precision Instrument is a good option in the fourth column to increase precision damage by dealing sustained damage. At one stack, Precision Instrument already allows you to secure a kill in two precision hits and one body shot, as opposed to three precision hits. Another option in the fourth column is Iron Reach. It grants 20 range but reduces 20 stability. This perk allows you to maximize range, but the stability loss is quite significant and may not be for everyone.
Stat-wise, the Finite Impactor with the perks triggered is still lagging behind weapons like Exalted Truth with Slideshot and Precision Instrument, which can max out the range while maintaining 80+ stability. It also has higher base handling and reload speed than Finite Impactor.
How to get Finite Impactor in Destiny 2
Finite Impactor is available during the Iron Banner event in Destiny 2. When Iron Banner’s around, play activities with the Iron Banner Engram available as a Bonus Reward to try and get the hand cannon, among other weapons, including Phoneutria Fera and Submersion.
You can get additional copies of the weapon from the Even Home menu. There’s a reward track with one Finite Impactor and also Iron Banner Engrams you can purchase with Even Tokens.
