Dog walkers have been warned and hit with fines over letting their pets mess on the streets alongside reports of antisocial behaviour in alleyways.
The sanctions follow days of action on the Carsic Estate in Sutton-in-Ashfield and council Community Protection Officers have issued Fixed Penalty Notices for anti-social behaviour.
Ashfield District Council street cleansing crews undertook two days of action clearing litter, dog mess, weeds and moss from alleyways across the estate as part of the council’s effort to keeping streets cleaner.
As one of their targeted patrol areas, Community Protection Officers have issued two Fixed Penalty Notices for dog fouling and a Community Protection Warning for anti-social behaviour.
Councillor Tom Hollis, Deputy Leader and Councillor for Sutton said: “We are committed to keeping the alleyways on Carsic safe for residents to use.
Last week officers spent two days clearing them, and as part of targeted patrols by the Community Protection Team, this week we’ve issued fines and a warning to those who think its okay for council officers to pick up after them.
“We get regular reports of anti-social behaviour in the alleyways and we want to make sure that they are safe places for residents of all ages to use.
"Community Protection Officers will continue to patrol the area and we hope that this acts as a deterrent to those that think they can get away without picking up after their dogs.”
