Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan congratulates Helen Flanagan and Scott Sinclair on new baby in 'bizarre' tweet

Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan has taken to Twitter to congratulate Helen Flanagan and Scott Sinclair on the birth of their third child.

The former Minister for Justice sent a message to the couple after they celebrated the birth of their first son last week.

Former Coronation Street star Helen and Preston North End footballer Scott Sinclair named their newborn baby Charlie, with the Laois/Offaly TD questioning if the baby was named after him or former Celtic and Arsenal player Charlie Nicholas.

The tweet read: "Big Congrats to ex-Corrie star Helen Flanagan & former Chelsea & Celtic player Scott Sinclair on birth of baby boy Charlie. Not sure if he’s called after me or Charlie Nicholas."

Twitter users were left slightly surprised by the politician's post, with one saying: "Such a bizarre tweet."

Another reply read: "Have you been hacked, Charlie?"

Someone else said: "Charlie has your account been hacked?? Cause why on Earth are u commenting on a UK soap actress having a baby??"

Helen shared a picture of herself and her baby on social media over the weekend.

She commented on it: "Our baby boy Charlie was born on Thursday on Scott’s birthday.

"I was two days overdue like I was with Delila.

"We are in such a love bubble we couldn’t be more in love with our beautiful little boy, we can not stop staring at him.

"The girls just love him so much. We are absolutely besotted with our perfect little prince.

"Charlie is an absolute dream come true. I don’t think I’ve slept much since the labour, but I feel like I miss his little face when I do sleep, not been able to put him down or stop kissing and cuddling him, he is so loved.

"Thank you for all your lovely messages."

Former Celtic star Sinclair tweeted: "I couldn’t ask for a better gift on my Birthday, what a blessing!!! welcome to the world son."
