The Prince of Wales has a sweet memento displayed in his home from the royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the authors of Finding Freedom have claimed.

On Tuesday 11 August, Finding Freedom, an unofficial biography of Meghan and Prince Harry written by royal journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, was published.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes has clarified the couple had no involvement in the writing of the book, as the biography documents the journalists’ personal experiences of working in close proximity to Meghan and Harry over the past few years.

In the book, the authors write about the close relationship Meghan reportedly formed with her father-in-law, who played an important role during her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

In the absence of her father Thomas Markle, who did not attend the wedding, Meghan was accompanied down the aisle at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle by Prince Charles.

Prince Harry previously told the BBC that when he asked his father to walk Meghan down the aisle, “he knew it was coming”.

“He immediately said, ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you’,” Prince Harry stated.

In Finding Freedom, the authors write that Prince Charles has a “framed black-and-white photo of himself escorting his daughter-in-law at his Clarence House residence”.

A friend of Meghan’s reportedly spoke to the authors about the close bond the Duchess of Sussex shares with Prince Charles.

The friend states that the duchess “found such a supportive and loving father in Charles, which has really changed her life for the better”.

Meanwhile, one of the supposed reasons why Prince Charles is particularly fond of Meghan is her “confidence”, the book states.

“She’s bright and she’s self-aware, and I can see why they’ve struck up a very quick friendship,” a source reportedly told the authors, adding that Meghan is married to Charles’ “beloved youngest son”.

“Charles takes enormous delight and pleasure in that,” the quotation adds.

On the day of Finding Freedom‘s publication, The Independent conducted a live-reading of the book, sharing anecdotes such as Meghan’s pre-wedding security training and how she and Harry reportedly fired a nanny on her second shift of looking after Archie for being “irresponsible” and “unprofessional”.
