Into its seventh season, The Voice Thailand, once a pioneer of the genre, now finds itself among a glut of television singing contests.

Still, its unique format still guarantees buzz. Promoting talents from all walks of life and professions, the show has opened for new auditions, and let's hope the pool of still-to-be-discovered talents hasn't dried up.
Online auditions are from May 28 to June 2, giving all enthusiasts a week to send in a video clip of themselves singing.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your camera and plug in a microphone for improved sound and picture -- or simply find a quiet place and whip out your phone camera, which should work splendidly as well. Ask a friend to film you belting out that high note or get yourself a tripod for a more private recording session. Anything goes, really.
The rules are:
- Applicants have to be over the age of 15, with no commitment to any music labels. Any nationality is welcomed, though you must be able to speak and sing in Thai. Foreigners must have legal documents to certify their stay in Thailand.
- Both single acts and duos are welcomed.
- Your video should not exceed one minute in length, and the file size mustn't be larger than 100MB. Your face must be shown clearly. You should also sing without a backing track, though you're allowed to have one instrument accompany your singing.
- The audio and visual of the video clip must not be extensively edited or enhanced.
Some of the recommendations provided on The Voice Thailand's Facebook page suggest applicants choose songs they are comfortable with -- ones that reflect themselves best. Then, practise, rest, drink lots of water, and basically get your voice ready to record. The video doesn't need to include any introduction. Simply start singing the verses and hooks, making sure they don't exceed one minute in total. Record several clips and choose the best one to upload as part of your application.
The results of the online audition will be announced on June 15, 2pm. Those who pass the audition will go on to the so-called blind audition, where esteemed coaches will pick voices for their team.
The Voice Thailand began its run in 2012 and has been going for six seasons. Some of the show's alum include Keng Tachaya, Violette Wautier, Max Jenmana, Image Suthita, Benjamin James Dooley (former frontman of Gear Knight) and more.
The show has also seen established figures in Thai showbiz serving as coaches -- Kong Saharat, Joey Boy, Jennifer Kim, Stamp, Singto Numchok and Da Endorphine -- to help aspiring singers compete their way to the top, finally earning the title of the Voice.
