Throughout the coronavirus pandemic we have endeavoured to keep our readers updated with the latest figures for their local area.
This hasn't always been easy - with data from the government not always being as timely or as detailed as we would like.
However, we are now seeing better, more granular and timely figures about coronavirus cases in local areas coming through.
Because of this we have now changed the way our InYourArea coronavirus case search tool works.
We've made an alteration to the numbers you will see for your postcode to make sure you're getting what we believe is the most accurate current picture about the situation local to you.
Instead of still displaying a running total of Covid-19 cases, which now dates back to March, we've made new confirmed cases the main focal point.

These are based on the last seven days' data, which are provided by the Government, and give a better indication of the very latest state of the pandemic area-by-area.
It is also these data, among other factors, which are being used to decide whether, and where, local restrictions need to be enforced.

This update currently only applies to InYourArea feeds in England, as the data to show the same in the rest of the UK isn't currently available.
