Find out which Bristol firework displays are cancelled - and which are still on

Some fireworks displays for Bonfire Night have been cancelled due to the weather.

Celebrations had been scheduled throughout Bristol and surrounding areas, beginning this weekend and continuing until next.

But forecasts of high winds have prompted some organisers to scrap their events.

Today (Saturday, November 2), residents of Bristol and nearby areas had been expecting no fewer than five displays.

Events had been planned at the following locations:

  • Puxton Park
  • Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club
  • Dial Hill Cricket Ground, Clevedon (organised by Clevedon Round Table)
  • Iron Action Parish Meadows
  • Canford Park

However, the Canford Park display has now been cancelled - as has the one at Weston cricket club.

The Canford Park organisers posted a statement on Facebook explaining the decision, pointing to expected wind speeds of more than 40mph.

It read: "We are extremely disappointed that the event has had to be cancelled. The decision, which was not taken lightly, is based on advice from Skyburst Fireworks stating that they will be unable to mount the display due to prevailing and forecast wind conditions."

Refund information can be accessed by visiting the Bristol Round Table Facebook page.

Weston cricket club also issued a statement in which it described itself as "devastated".

The statement read: "Safety for our visitors, volunteers and neighbours is our primary concern and the Met Office Yellow Weather Warning for high wind means, in agreement with the fireworks company, that we’re unable to run the event.

"As a not for profit volunteer run club we are devastated to not run our popular event for the town, but I'm sure you can appreciate this it outside of our control.

"Refunds for online tickets will be processed within the next 2-3 days.

"The bar is open tonight from 7pm so why not get out of the weather and have a drink.

"Thanks for your continued support, is it very much valued."
