Find out how you could earn up to £38,000 as an officer with West Yorkshire Police

If you've always dreamed of fighting crime on the frontline, now could be the perfect opportunity to apply to join the police.

West Yorkshire Police are recruiting new officers - and you could earn up the £38,000 with the force.

The latest round of applications is now open, with a host of roles on offer for people who want to pull on the uniform.

An enticing starting salary of £23,124 is on the table for police officers, with the incentive to boost your earnings up to £38,382 after seven years of service.

Every police officer also starts the role with 25 days annual leave and there's also an option to take on a part-time role or switch to a flexible working pattern.

The first step on the route to becoming a police officer is an online appplication. If you're successful at this stage, you'll then be invited to an assessment centre before then sitting infront of a panel in a face-to-face interview.

Medical assessments and financial checks are also necessary at this stage.

What other roles are available?

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) - the salary for this role ranges between £19,521 and £21,618. Anyone over the age of 18 can apply and if you get through the initial selection round, you'll be scored on two written tests, an interview and interactive exercises before being told if you've made the cut.

PCSOs work in Neighbourhood Policing Teams on 10-week variable shift patterns (six days on, four days off), including weekends and Bank Holidays.

Special Constables - If you want to give something back to the community and learn new skills, West Yorkshire Police have opened applications for Special Constables to join the force. You'll provide a vital link between the police and the diverse communities across West Yorkshire.
