Fincham takes a barely earned break

Despite only taking up his job at the beginning of May, new ITV director of television Peter Fincham has apparently decided to take most of August off. Producers tell Monkey that the ITV commissioning process has ground to a halt in the wake of his absence leaving them to twiddle their thumbs until the great man returns. Fincham is due to deliver the MacTaggart lecture at the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival on August 22. So Monkey is hoping he will be back by then.
