THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance minister K N Balagopal while delivering a lecture on ‘Centre state relations and Kerala development’ at the 58th state convention of NGO union here on Sunday said the Centre was robbing the powers of state violating the essence of the constitution.
The minister also said right from the time when an elected government was dismissed using section 356 of the Constitution, the powers of the state had been encroached upon.
K N Balagopal said that the introduction of GST deprived the states of the right to collect tax. At present there are a few revenue sources like land registration for the state government.
The Central government is again trying to rob that revenue too by introducing a one nation one registration scheme, he alleged.
