'Finally' - Tottenham fans excited by major transfer update

Tottenham fans have been reacting to the latest update in their club's search for a striker.

Jose Mourinho has been chasing another striker as an alternative option and back-up to lead man Harry Kane.

And earlier today, our Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold updated supporters with an exclusive story, reporting that Tottenham's striker search is coming towards an end ahead of the October 5 deadline.

He wrote: "football.london understands that Spurs are finally closing in on agreeing a deal for a new forward more than 14 months after Fernando Llorente left the club.

"The club are hopeful of tying up the deal ahead of Monday's transfer deadline day.

"Talks are still at a delicate stage but Spurs had narrowed down their striker search in recent weeks to a number of players competing across Europe's leagues."

Fans have been reacting to that update on Twitter - here is what they have had to say.

Spurs have been without a back-up striker since Fernando Llorente's departure to Napoli more than a year ago, and they even played without a frontman for the penalty shootout win over Chelsea on Tuesday night with Kane rested on the bench.

Though, Mourinho is now understood to be closing in on a striker, ending his long search.
