Liverpool fans were delighted to see Fabinho back in midfield as the Reds took on RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Brazilian has spent much of the season operating as an emergency centre-back after Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip suffered season-ending injuries, with his last start in the engine room for Jurgen Klopp's side coming against Everton back in October.
But after coming on in his favoured position as a substitute against Fulham on Sunday, the 27-year-old was named in the middle of the park for Liverpool as they looked to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals, with Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak instead chosen as a youthful centre-back partnership.
With the Reds in the midst of a dismal run of form in 2021, there had been repeated calls for Klopp to restore Fabinho to midfield after signing Kabak and Ben Davies on transfer deadline day to strengthen his defensive ranks.
And after the Brazilian was finally restored to the engine room against the Bundesliga outfit, alongside Thiago Alcantara and Gini Wijnaldum, Liverpool fans were understandably delighted by the positional change.
