- Samsung has shared more details about the One UI 8 rollout
- A host of phones and tablets are getting the update this year
- We've also got a good idea of the exact dates for each model
Samsung's One UI 8 update (based on Android 16) is already up and running on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and more recently the Galaxy S25 phones launched earlier this year. Now, we have some big clues about when older handsets will get it too.
We say "clues", because we don't get specific dates for any regions except Brazil (you can see those dates below). However, as per an official Samsung press release (via Android Authority), the following phones will get One UI 8 "this year": the Samsung Galaxy S24 series (including the Galaxy S24 FE), the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
That's the high-end 2024 flagships covered, but even more phones are in line for an update before the end of 2025. Samsung also mentions the Galaxy S23 series (including the Galaxy S23 FE, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, and the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
And the list doesn't stop there, because it also includes the Galaxy S22 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, and the Galaxy S21 FE. That's phones stretching back to 2021 which will be getting One UI 8 by the end of this year.
Tablets are mentioned too by Samsung: the Galaxy Tab S10 series, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE, the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, the Galaxy Tab S9 series, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE, and the Galaxy Tab S8 series are all slated to get One UI 8 sometime in 2025.
Samsung also mentions a whole batch of mid-range and budget phones, stretching back to the Galaxy A53 5G and the Galaxy A33 5G that launched in 2022. All of these phones are getting the big software update this year too.
Dates for your calendar

Samsung Brazil has been a bit more specific about when we might see One UI 8 launch on these phones. Whether or not these dates will match international availability remains to be seen – but they shouldn't be too far off.
In summary, Samsung's 2024 phones are getting the update from September 25, the 2023 phones from October 2, and so on – there's roughly a week between each wave of software releases, with newer devices first in line.

The primary focus of the press release is the suite of new features you can look forward to in One UI 8. The software adds better security for your data, improved access to AI tools, and upgrades to the Now Brief and Now Bar features.
In terms of hardware, we've already seen a lot of Samsung devices unveiled in 2025, but we might not quite be done yet. The rumors suggest there'll be a final launch event on September 29, where we might see some AR/VR devices and the Samsung tri-fold.
