Kevin Sorbo, best known for his one-time role as Hercules in the 1990s television series, has expressed excitement about President Donald Trump’s legislative progress in the Senate.
The failed television star posted on the social media platform X, sharing his enthusiasm about political developments rather than any entertainment industry projects. Sorbo shared news with the caption referencing Trump’s recent Senate victory, showing his tendency to quickly share political content. The post included news labeled “President Trump Drops Massive Statement In Dead Of Night” from a conservative news source.
In his social media post, Sorbo wrote, “Looks like it’s finally happening,” showing his support for the political developments. The actor has become known more for his political commentary than his acting work in recent years, often making headlines for controversial takes that don’t help his career prospects. His engagement with current political events continues to generate attention on social media platforms.
Senate Republicans advance Trump’s major legislation package
The Senate voted 51-49 along party lines Saturday evening to advance President Trump’s comprehensive bill for debate. The vote came after a marathon four-hour session that saw Republican Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin change his position from opposition to support. Johnson stated the massive bill represents a “necessary first step” toward fiscal sustainability.
Only two Republican senators opposed the measure. Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky voted against advancing the legislation. Republicans hold a 53-47 seat majority in the chamber, making the narrow passage possible despite the dissenting votes.
President Trump criticized the two opposing Republicans on his Truth Social platform following the vote. Trump wrote that “Thom Tillis has hurt the great people of North Carolina” and called him “a talker and complainer, NOT A DOER.” The president also targeted Paul, referring to him as “Rand ‘Fauci’ Paul” in his criticism.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer led Democratic opposition to the bill, calling the measure “radical.” Schumer stated that “Senate Republicans are scrambling to pass a radical bill, released to the public in the dead of night.” Democrats used delay tactics, including having the entire 940-page bill read aloud on the Senate floor, a process that took approximately 15 hours.
Senator Elizabeth Warren shared video content emphasizing Democratic resistance to the legislation. She stated that Democrats were holding the floor “all night” and stressed the need to “use every single second we can to fight back against Trump’s bill.” The procedural delays pushed the vote into the weekend as both parties prepared for extended debate sessions.
President Trump has set a July 4 deadline for the legislation to reach his desk. The bill must first complete the Senate process before moving to the House of Representatives for a final vote. Trump praised several Republican senators in his Truth Social post, specifically mentioning Johnson, Rick Scott of Florida, Mike Lee of Utah, and Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming for their support of the measure.
