A huge new food and drink market is looking for local musicians ahead of its grand opening later this month.
A six-figure investment has seen the former Ormskirk Indoor Market, in Moorgate, transformed into a new food hall. The main dining area will feature American-style booth seating, with food units and bars and an outdoor terraced area overlooking the railway.
The six independent food retailers confirmed for launch are award-winning Baltic Triangle restaurant Lu Ban/Meishi, Burscough-based pizzeria Purely Pizza, Greek street food newcomer Gyrosophy, steak and fish eatery Salmo, burger joint Meatello and outdoor hangout Backyard Liverpool.
Now the team behind the venture are looking for artists to perform on the brand-new raised stage on live music sessions hosted three days a week. Local and new-on-the-scene bands are being encouraged to get in touch to take part in upcoming residency slots.

The market is themed around the slogan ‘Eat, Meet, Play’ with the second phase of the project, a full games loft with shuffleboard tables and electronic darts, scheduled for completion early next year.
Director Simon Beer said: “There really is an abundance of musical talent here in Ormskirk and the surrounding areas and we want to create a reputation as the venue that gives those upcoming and emerging bands a platform to showcase themselves.” The company is also recruiting for 80 in-house staff members to join their hospitality team.
Social media manager Emma Riley said that the project has been a big clean-up operation adding: “In the space of a couple of days, the changes are insane…It’s a big project."
The space is now “very much open plan” due to a complete redesign of market’s 10,000 sq ft interior. Multiple walls have been knocked down and a whole new mezzanine renovated to create space for a more intimate dining area and a stage.
Fiona Beer, Director, said: ““It was so exciting to announce our food vendors and the reaction we have received since then has been fantastic. Now it’s time to pull another element of our community into the collective and create a strong portfolio of impressive local talent, all under one historical roof. There really is no better way to compliment brilliant food than with great live music.”
