The last set of wings for the A380 superjumbo are being taken by barge from Airbus Broughton over the next two days.
The mammoth A380 - powered by Rolls-Royce engines made in Derby - took off in 2007 and at the time was heralded as the future of air travel.
With the huge wings too large to take by air they departed from Broughton by barge on the River Dee to Mostyn Port before being transported by boat to the Airbus site in Toulouse in France for the assembly.
But orders soon dried up for the plane due to its price tag and rising fuel costs and last February Airbus announced the programme would be ended in 2021.
The first wing from the final set left from the Broughton site this morning - travelling on the Dee River Craft(DRC) Afon Dyfrdwy to Mostyn.
This will be joined tomorrow by the final wing that will make the same journey at 9am on Friday.
It will bring to an end 13 years of A380 wing production at Broughton.
Plant bosses are now discussing what to do with the giant factory- one of the biggest manufacturing buildings in the UK.
It should not be empty for long as backlogs in other programmes will see production rates stepped up - a move that should ensure staff working on the A380 are retained.
