Final injury report for Chiefs vs. Vikings, Week 9

The Kansas City Chiefs are quite a bit more banged up than the Minnesota Vikings with Week 9 bearing down on us. The good news is that the Chiefs could get a few players back this week, including QB Patrick Mahomes.

Check out the injury report with game designations for the Chiefs down below:

Player Injury Designation*
LG Andrew Wylie Ankle
TE Blake Bell Back
QB Patrick Mahomes Knee / Ankle Questionable
DT Chris Jones Groin Questionable
CB Kendall Fuller Thumb Questionable
P Dustin Colquitt Left Thigh
DE Alex Okafor Ankle Out
RG Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Ankle Out
LT Eric Fisher Groin Out
CB Bashaud Breeland Shoulder
DE Frank Clark Neck Questionable

* Out = Won’t play | Doubtful = Unlikely to play | Questionable = Possible to play

Obviously, the questionable designation for Patrick Mahomes will have people excited. I think this will be gamesmanship more than anything else and that he won’t play this week. Watch if the Chiefs make a move on Sunday and waive QB Kyle Shurmur.

Chris Jones and Frank Clark both practiced on Friday. It’d be a big deal if the Chiefs could get either or both defensive linemen back against the Vikings. They’re both listed as questionable to play.

The great news for Kansas City is that both Dustin Colquitt and Bashaud Breeland will play. Their injuries were not significant enough to keep them out.

Left guard Andrew Wylie is set to return this week after missing time with an ankle sprain. He could shift over to the right guard spot with Laurent Duvernay-Tardif out. He played there in 2018 when Duvernay-Tardif missed the season with an injury.

Three players that didn’t practice all week — Duvernay-Tardif, Eric Fisher and Alex Okafor will all sit out.

Check out the injury report with game designations for the Vikings down below:

Player Injury Designation*
WR Adam Thielen Hamstring Questionable
DT Linval Joseph Knee
DT Shamar Stephen Knee

* Out = Won’t play | Doubtful = Unlikely to play | Questionable = Possible to play

After a week of limited practices, WR Adam Thielen is the only player with an injury designation for Sunday. Thielen will be questionable with a hamstring injury leading up to the game. He’ll test his hamstring out before the game and the Vikings training staff will ultimately make the final call.
