Final hours of tragic actor Godfrey Gao before he suffered fatal heart attack on set

Tragic actor Godfrey Gao was filming looking exhausted after reportedly working a 17-hour day before suffering a fatal heart attack on set.

The Taiwanese-Canadian actor looked like he was struggling run as filmed scenes for a reality TV show in China.

Gao, 35, collapsed on the set of Chase Me, a competitive sports series, in the city of Ningbo and later died.

The show is designed to test participants to their limits and only accepts contestants who are in good physical shape.

Footage which has emerged online seems to show the star looking fatigued as he slowed down and bent over before using his arms to pull himself up a ramp.

It comes amid reports Gao had worked a 17-hour day prior to his death.

He's believed to have been on set from 8:30am on Tuesday until 1:45am the following morning, and is said to have been suffering from a cold.

After his death, Chase Me's management in a statement: "Guest participant Godfrey suddenly collapsed to the ground while running.

"The programme's on-site paramedics began lifesaving measures immediately and urgently transported him to the hospital.

"After two hours of all-out efforts to save him, the hospital [said] he had suffered a sudden cardiac death."

Gao - real name Tsao Chih-Hsiang - rose to fame as the first Asian male model for luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

He acted in numerous television dramas and movies, including a role in the Hollywood film The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones.

He also made a name for himself in China when he starred in the popular TV drama Remembering Lichuan.
