It's been a while since Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter smashed their games together for a crossover event swapping some of their meanest beasties, but you've had eight years to get the Rathalos mount in Final Fantasy 14, so now it's time to move on to the next big grind.
During today's Opening Night Live, Square Enix and Capcom announced another crossover event between Final Fantasy 14 and the newer Monster Hunter Wilds with both games hosting their own interpretation of the other universe's creatures.
Monster Hunter Wilds will welcome Final Fantasy-themed visitors and rewards in late September. Then, the in-game FF14 event will add a dash of Monster Hunter to Eorzea in early October.

And yes, that's the Omicron raid legend Omega popping in for a little interdimensional terror on another unsuspecting world as it makes its Monster Hunter Wilds debut. Capcom says it will introduce Omega Planetes as a new monster in Title Update 3. If you're all caught up on FF14 raids and Endwalker, then yeah—Omega's pitstop in the Forbidden Lands checks out.
There are also a few more Final Fantasy staples headed to Wilds, like roaming Cactuars and Chocobo skins for your Seikret mounts, but that's all we have for now. Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds official site promises more details later.
Then there's the Final Fantasy 14 in-game event with some of the reverse—a Seikret mount, Monster Hunter glam, and what I'm assuming is a trial against Arkveld. Also, is that another Palico minion? We would be so blessed.
The last time these two clashed, FF14 added two versions of 'The Great Hunt' encounter with Rathalos. There was an easier version to complete for orchestrion rolls, glamour, and housing items, and then there was The Great Hunt (Extreme). It's a harder version of the original where the RNG gods could bless you with a Rathalos mount drop upon completion, or force you to kill the thing 50 times for enough scales to trade.
I never even saw the thing drop, but I did get my mount…so yeah, that's where I was in Stormblood.
