Final event for stricken Rangers legend and Hospice patient Fernando Ricksen

Football star Fernando Ricksen has announced that a charity event next weekend will be his last public appearance.

The former Rangers player posted an emotional video message on Twitter confirming next Friday night’s bash will be his “final night”.

Ricksen, 42, will be at the GoGlasgow Urban Hotel on June 28 to raise funds for MND Scotland and urged Rangers fans to turn out at the event. The former midfielder was diagnosed with the disease in 2013 and is now in the final stages of it.

"An Evening with Fernando Ricksen" will take place at a Glasgow hotel on the 28th of June (Ricksen my friend/pauline)

He is being cared for at St Andrew’s Hospice and said in his message, via a speech generating device: “Since it’s getting very difficult for me, this will be my final night.

“Come and make this a night to remember. Hopefully see you all soon.”
