'Final decision' - Uncertain future for Nottingham Forest loan flop after end of City Ground spell

Winger Adama Diakhaby faces an uncertain future after the end of his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.

It was an unsuccessful stint at the City Ground for the Huddersfield Town man, with head coach Sabri Lamouchi admitting he was struggling with a lack of confidence.

The Reds are understood to have an option to make his move a permanent one, but it is one they are unlikely to take up, given he made just two starts in the Championship since joining in January.

And there is also a question mark over whether he will stay with the Terriers.

Diakhaby was among the players taken out of selection contention and made available for transfer before the last window, with Terence Kongolo and Isaac Mbenza also in that group.

It is now down to new boss Carlos Corberan to decide whether to give them another chance.

"That's up to Carlos," Town's head of football operations Leigh Bromby told YorkshireLive. "The conversations on that are that Carlos will decide.

"When he comes in he will assess all those players. He has watched them all already, so he has a great idea of which ones he likes.

"They will all have an opportunity in pre-season to come back into the group; Carlos will have the final decision on those players."

Bromby added: "I don't think they will be financial decisions.

"He has to assess them on whether they fit what the club want to do moving forward.

"We know we took some players from the Premier League to the Championship and the club did really well in terms of those contracts and it being a manageable situation.

"Carlos has to make football decisions on them and I know for a fact the club will back him."

"Let's be honest, some players will leave because they want to,” he continued.

"There's been a lot gone on at this club over the last two years and some players might not want to play for the club, and it's something we want to change.

"Through their actions we will see over the next few weeks and months if they want to be here. That's the most important thing.

"Some players will leave because they want a transfer or they will request a transfer."
