'Final chance' for Edinburgh residents to apply to have brown bins collected by council

Edinburgh residents are being made aware of the "final chance" to apply to have garden waste collected for this year.

Waste permits run from October 2019 to October 2020 – and anyone wishing to have their brown bin collected, who has not already registered for uplift, needs to to apply between 10am on 20 January and 2pm on 3 February.

The City of Edinburgh Council say this is the last chance to sign up this year, before the service ends in October.

The cost of registering to have brown bins emptied every two weeks is £25, although those who receive Council Tax Reduction don't need to pay.

The authority say they need to charge as their "costs are increasing and more people are using our services, whilst our income is reducing".

To register you can visit the City of Edinburgh Council website by clicking here.
