Final 2020/21 Premier League table predicted - and it's bad news for Chelsea and Frank Lampard

The 2019/20 Premier League campaign finished with differing emotions for London's top clubs.

Arsenal finished eighth but won the FA Cup final against Chelsea, although the Blues enjoyed a much better league season and landed a top-four spot which meant a second successive year in the Champions League.

Tottenham, meanwhile, missed out on the top four for the first time in four seasons, finishing sixth under Jose Mourinho who replaced Mauricio Pochettino as head coach last November.

But all three clubs were active in the summer transfer window as the race for Champions League football heats up with Manchester United also in contention.

The Blues were the biggest spenders as they splashed out more than £200m to bring in the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, and Hakim Ziyech.

Funds were limited in north London, although both Arsenal and Spurs did make some shrewd signings such as Thomas Partey and Gareth Bale respectively.

With that said, the big question now is which of the three London teams - if any - will be playing Champions League football next season?

Aqua Digital Rising have provided their view on what will happen this season thanks to their Big Data, AI and algorithms - and it's bad news for Chelsea.

The fintech company is predicting this season's title, top-four, and survival race will be very close.

A statement reads: "Aqua analyses 500+ isolated data points historical, current, across social media, including player profiles, individual and team performance, as well as commercial positioning, and using AI, Machine Learning and mathematics turns the information into a continuous real-time index. This can then be used to indicate where each team can expect to finish this season.

"The Aqua Premier League index after 5 matches predicts that Liverpool will retain the title from Manchester City by just two points.

"The top four teams will be:

1. Liverpool - 83 pts

2. Manchester City - 81 pts

3. Tottenham Hotspur - 71 pts

4. Arsenal - 67 pts

Dev Dutta, Founder and CTO at Aqua, commented: "We have calculated that the season will be very competitive with Liverpool underperforming compared with the 2019/ 20 season, but just doing enough to retain the title.

"Manchester City will be very consistent, putting in the same level of performance as last year, with Spurs and Arsenal both improving.

"The clubs which could cause upsets are, of course, Everton, who we think will come fifth and Aston Villa who are expected to finish in 14th spot. At the moment Villa are outperforming their expected potential by 150%, but the data does not see this as sustainable."

Chelsea being tipped to not only miss out on a top-four finish, but to also finish below Everton would be terrible news for head coach Frank Lampard.

After splashing the cash in the summer, the pressure is on Lampard to mount a title challenge with the talented squad at his disposal.

A sixth-placed finish would surely place his job at risk.
