Filming for new Shetland episodes underway in Greenock today

Filming for new episodes of detective series Shetland was taking place in Greenock today.

Lead actor Douglas Henshall who plays detective Jimmy Perez revealed he'd be back at one of the programme's favoured locations today.

And he couldn't resist making a comment about the lousy weather he and the production crew were facing.

Shetland has often made use of the countryside around Loch Thom and has filmed around the area for episodes six and seven of the show.

The West End of Greenock has also featured in the show adapted from novels by Ann Cleeves.

Dougie took to Twitter to tell fans about the new scenes he'd be filming for what is thought be the remainder of season seven.

He said "If you live in the Glasgow area and you happen to be looking out your window wondering why the weather is so resolutely p**h. We will be filming in Loch Thom tomorrow. #Shetland "

Fans couldn't resist commenting on Dougie's weather forecast.

One said: "Rain in Greenock? Not a chance. Get the Factor 50 on...PS The waterproof stuff."

Another added: "I almost drove past Loch Thom without noticing it, it was that f3ckin grey & wet."

And another was just chuffed they were filming close to home saying: "Was definitely a big surprise when I saw my house in Greenock when you and Tosh drove through Lerwick one day… "
